No, because it is not open-source (I mean UJFS.DLL).

Of course UJFS.DLL is open-source, it's based on GPL code so it have to
be. Please try explain that to [Pasha]... I conviced him of the jfs.ifs
(I think) long time ago but that took some effor because of the language
barriers.

Kind Regards,

I asked for sources some time before (around one year ago) but answer was 'No,
because not finished yet'. But I'm not sure according UJFS based on GPL code.

It looks as all kinds of "open" JFS in OS/2 trace back to IBM CMVC
snapshot from Sep 15 1999 known as "reference JFS code". It is GPLed,
but differs from the closed Aurora tree in no more than copyright labels
and directory names - that is, it displays no traces of third-party
involvement.

So, as Pavel Shtemenko continued his JFS development under an assignment
from SSI, they might work out this little GPL nuisance by assuming they
were actually dealing with closed code from IBM with tacit approval of
the latter. Try to prove the contrary.

[I must admit I'm lost in those FreeJFS, OpenJFS and their relationship.
If the closed project inherited some third-party work (e.g. Netlabs), it
certainly has to abide by GPL.]

"
Since 2002 with open sourcing JFS the OpenJFS
project started to work on a bootable JFS aka
MiniJFS for OS/2. The latest build 09/05/2004
was used for testing with a fresh install of
ACP2. The IBM installer for phaseI was replaced
by an install script to integrate the new feature
during install. The install was done straight from
the install CD-ROM and without any HPFS/FAT 'helper'
partitions being around. A replacement for the ibm
install shell in phaseI is currently in development.
Please support the OpenJFS project on Netlabs, theres
more than just the bootable jfs !
"
A copy/quote from the site. It mentions that it is
'open source' (first line above).

KNOWN ISSUES:
* formatting fails with SYS0528
* bootings fails with JFS Error 0000:B8FA (bootsector not found)
* warpcenter configuration is trashed after recover from hard reset
"
I also found this. Hopefully they are working on them.

Will you be updating the 'news' section? (even if it is
to mention the discussions going on here at this group?).

Which news? In this group nothing constructive.yet. In osFree-core group no any
discussion for a long time. We briefly looked at various kernels and no any
final. So, we (I'm and Bartosz) selected ReactOS as first time kernel to start
working on LX loader and DOS API. Now I'm slowly preparing ISO image of ReactOS
with build tools. ISO will be available for download as fast as will be reade.
First things we plan to implements are:
1. Replace domination subsystem from Win32 to OS/2
2. Write core OS2SS.EXE server
3. Write LX Loader
4. Try to make work easest application with only one call (DosExit).

After this points will be reached we will start to implement other set of DOS
API.

Only thing I can (and plan) to do for site it's stop poll and show results.

The above is news - IMHO. It shows that OSFree is active
and has not been abandoned. It shows the possible direction
for OSFree. It gives hope for a free clone of OS/2 that
Warp users can look forward to. I think that would be
news worthy.
