You are probably right !

But do not hesitate to tell me if I'm all wrong.

I called for a osFree/CMD group to get development started.
As any programmer would agree, it takes much longer to think something out than
to do the
actual coding.

Whatever underpinnings (loader/kernel/drivers model) we choose we will still
need the command
line tools and the CPI (Dos/Kbd/Mou/Vio) layer.
This is a place we can start and where most of us can help.

If you know how to build kernel stuff join osFree/Kernel. Test alternatives and
tell us all what you
found out. But PLEASE, dont just read websites and talk endlessly about it.
Get the code, build it from scratch, answer questions like,
how well would it fit the OS/2 community, how easy would it be to add OS/2 API
support, could
it be made to run OS/2 drivers etc.

Action speaks louder than words.

we've just got a discussion about it on pl.comp.os2.os2 (kernel for OS/2), and
many
people advised closer look at http://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/hurd.html

dunno anything about it yet.... just checking

Personally I wouldn't dwell on coding style too much for one
practical reason: it is highly unlikely that two, let alone more
than two programmers would agree on a common style.

So yes, some guidelines should be laid down but I wouldn't be too
pedantic.

Yes, that sounds good because this scheme should be familiar
to all OS/2 programmers.

First of all I would like to congratulate You all
to a great work to regarding building up a huge
fuzz about osFree <grin> Well, what can I see;
I fully support it.

Next is that I didn't have to chance to download
the files for myself, currently just hade some
chats with os2 world news master that was sould out
right away on it. Tell, me where to get the files
and I'll set it up on OS2 World under
http://www.os2world.com/osFree. If any one have the
time to scrap some html together that would be nice
since I already working on couple of sites.

Hi all,

my first posting to this group, I noticed that people were talking about

"I'm now starting the command line tools team" just a thought, there a
few already a rich set of utilities available already, why reinvent the
wheel,
eg command line replacements eg source not included but I am sure if
someone contacted the author

Well thanks for setting up the group it is much appreciated'
