Since FreeDOS is open source, could it be used as part
of the 'DOS API'?

This would show some activity at the site; which would
be a plus.

I think that Yuri meant they would continue with Dos* API functions,
e.g. DosAllocMem(), etc. This has nothing to do with DOS or FreeDOS. The
Dos* APi functions cover memory management, process and thread
management, and inter-process communication, AFAIK.

BTW, concerning the ReactOS OS/2 subsystem: I think it's a reasonable
decision that could eventually lead to a viable solution. (Just my opinion.)

Best Regards, Jarda

Thank you for making that clear.

I agree with the ROS OS/2 subsystem and your opinion of it.
I think it could lead to a viable solution.

I like it too. It also can make easier to support Win32 + OS/2 apps
in the same system... And the better: Win32 drivers. q^=
But this is for the future. For now, just being able to load simple
apps will be just too good! (^=
A word to the developers: Thanks for the great work!

Any news is good news (even if it is just to
report that there is no news so far - it will show
that OSFree has not been abandoned but still being
worked on).

http://www.osfree.org has not been updated since November 9, 2003
but it is easier to navigate/has been improved/better looking.

Even though the possibility is 'slim to none',
I will continue to ask. I try to give 'business
reasons' for doing so (would not have to continue
supporting OS/2 since the users would do that,
shows that IBM is truly supporting open source
projects, etc).

There is the source code of a previous OSFree
at Hobbes ( htt://hobbes.nmsu.edu ). Instead
of porting another/using another kernel, why
not just build on what has been done? Improve
it?

I think it's very unlikely to get Warp3 opensourced. It contain a lot
of Microsoft-copyrighted code. I think, "OS/2 for PowerPC" source code
much better from this point of view. It's also modern design
(microkernel architecture), so can be back ported to x86.
