README for Infocard Organizer

Infocard Organizer is a Java application for creating and manipulating
infocards, which are flexible, extensible XML-based data structures that
contain textual content, as well as metadata about the content
(including its source and author). Infocards conform to the InfoML
Standard, as defined by the file infomlFile.xsd.

In addition, using Infocard Organizer, you can create simple outlines,
and you can export infocards to a variety of useful human-readable
formats through the addition of your own XSLT transformations.

IMPORTANT: To get started with Infocard Organizer, please read the
documentation in the docs folder. Each file contains material that may
not be duplicated in the other files. To get started quickly, read the
file "InfOrg v0_7 QUICK START.rtf".
**********************************************************************

InfOrg v0_7 docs.rtf contains installation instructions for the Windows
platform. Currently, Infocard Organizer will run on Mac OS X as a
non-native Java application (i.e., the space menu bar for the
application will appear at the top of the Infocard Organizer window, not
at the top of the display). If a Mac developer would like to "Mac-ize"
the interface in a way that could easily be added to a Windows-based
code base, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you.

To contact the creator and maintainer of Infocard Organizer, Gregg
Williams, or for more information on the freely-available InfoML
standard, write to manager@InfoML.org. Thanks.
