Styles Tab
- The Entry Field Styles dialog allows you
to enter the text, ID, the type and style of the entry
field. The Start and End
entry fields enters the starting and ending index
positions of the text. The Size entry
field sets the maximum number of characters that the
entry field can accept. There are Cancel and Enter buttons along the bottom of the dialog box.
Text alignment:
- left-aligned
- centered
- right-aligned
Options:
- Auto Horz. scroll scrolls
the text in the entry field when new text is entered
- Margin places a border
around the Entry Field allowing the user to see the
limits of the actual Entry Field. When you do not use the
Margin style, the arrow will still change its shape to an
I-Beam when it passes over the marginless entry field
allowing the user to see that input is possible.
- Auto Tab generates the
effect of a tab key when a character is added to the end
of a full field. The auto tab style is generally used
with fixed-length entry fields.
- Read Only prevents the
user from entering text in the entry field. It is
possible to dynamically change the read only state of the
entry field through the EM_SETREADONLY message.
- Command designates the
entry field as a command entry field. This provides the Help
Manager with command help if the user requests help
for this field. Note: Only one entry field within
each dialog may have this style.
- Unreadable displays the
text entered as asterisks. Generally, this style is used
to create password entry fields. Note: Setting the
presentation parameters' foreground and background to the
same color creates an entry field that hides what is
being typed.
- Auto size sizes the text
such that the contents fit
DBCS Styles:
- Any causes the entry
field to accept a mixture of SBCS and DBCS characters.
When the number of characters is exceeded, an alarm will
sound and the entry field will ignore the last character
entered. This style is the default style for an entry
field.
- SBCS causes the entry
field to accept only single byte characters. When the
number of characters is exceeded, an alarm will sound and
the entry field will ignore the last character entered.
- DBCS displays a status
window at the bottom of the frame window within
Double-Byte Character Set (DBCS) enabled applications.
This window displays additional information to the user
through the DBCS facilities. When the number of
characters is exceeded or a SBCS character is entered, an
alarm will sound and the entry field will ignore the last
character entered.
- Mixed causes an entry
field to accept a mixture of SBCS and DBCS characters.
