LOCPATH Environment Variable

The value of this environment variable gives the search path for locale information not in the current directory when your program calls the setlocale function to set or query locale categories. It is also used to locate converter DLLs and tables for the iconv_open function.

When you install IBM C and C++ Compilers, this variable is set to point to the location of locale information provided with the product.

By default, on Windows LOCPATH is set to IBMCXXW\LOCALE.
Note: If IBM VisualAge for C++ 3.5 is also installed, you should remove the LOCPATH user variable.

If you installed VisualAge on drive D, a statement similar to the following appears in your config.sys file:

SET LOCPATH=D:\IBMCXXO\LOCALE
