Pen Options Dialog
The Pen Options dialog box contains five tabs:
Layout/Resources, Options, Inks, Symbol Sets, and Include/Exclude
Regions. There are Cancel
and Enter buttons along the bottom of
the dialog box.
- Layout/Resources
- The Layouts/Resource tab specifies the
name of the DLL containing the pointer resources, if
these resources do not reside within the executable. You
can enter the name of the DLL within the Name
entry field. You can select or enter the pointers through
the ID fields labeled Proximity and Writing.
The pen sub-system uses the Proximity pointer whenever
the pointer is within the proximity of the control. The
Writing pointer is used whenever writing occurs within
the control.
You can specify the line layout width and
spacing within the entry fields Width and Spacing.
If you want to use the pen system defaults for these values, you
can simply click on the Defaults check box. You can also
select the desired color in the Box Layout
group.
When you are selecting the pen options for the
handwriting control, you can specify the box layout instead of
the line layout. In this case, set the box width and height
through the Width and Height entry fields. If you
want to use the pen system defaults for these values, you can
select the Defaults check box.
- Options
- Through the Options tab, you can set the
various options used by the pen sub-system when using pen

select exit proximity, liftoff, and timeout

- Inks

that should occur within the control. You can set the
following options:
- Style allows you to
choose System or Window
- Width allows you to
choose Default, Normal or Thick
- Color provides 18 colored
boxes from which you can choose
- Line Type provides 8
boxes with lines from which to choose

- Symbol Sets
- Through the Symbol sets tab you can select
which symbol sets the pen sub-system should use. The
upper set of symbols is the Gesture set.
You can select any combination of gestures to include
within the symbol set. Likewise, you can select any
combination of the character symbols that are found below
the gestures.
-
- Include/Exclude Regions
- The Include/exclude regions tab defines
the include region and exclude regions for the pen
sub-system to use. The include region is defined as the
entire display by default. You can define a smaller area
(in dialog units) through the entry fields x , y,
Width and Depth.
The exclude regions are defined for the
controls that can receive input from the user. To define the
controls that should be excluded, you can select the items within
the list box. You can select more than one control to exclude at
a time by using the list box extended selection techniques.
