To import an existing file into your current design, select Import from the File Menu to display the Import dialog. Depending on the type of resource you wish to import, you must select the appropriate environment and resource type. Once you have selected the resource file to open, you will be asked if you wish to correlate the ID values in the resource file to values in the include file. This is where symbols with the same value as the resource ID being imported are matched. This matching makes it easier to relate the imported information to the actual application.
If the IRE determines that you have not opened an include file and have asked for correlation, you will be prompted to open an include header file. The Include Open dialog box will be displayed from which you can select the include header file to use.
The IRE will try to match items in the resource file with values from the include file. If there are items, such as menus and dialog boxes, that use the same ID value, you might find that the actual ID symbol of an item is not the same as you had originally defined. You should view each window and dialog box to check each of the control values to ensure that the ID symbols are what you want.
When you are importing script resources, you need to make sure that you either have the INCLUDE= variable in the environment set properly or you have set the appropriate paths in the IRE Default Usage dialog box. The default include path will be displayed in the Include entry field. You can update this field by either entering the include file paths or by selecting the Locate Path push button to select an include path from the Locate Path dialog. If you do not have the proper include paths, errors will occur in trying to include header files specified.
