Dialog/Window Styles
The Dialog/Window Styles dialog applies various
styles to the dialog, notebook page or window you have selected
or are creating.
Styles Tab
- The first tab in the dialog, Styles, sets
styles specific to the window or dialog you are creating.
The Title entry field specifies the
title-bar text and the ID entry field
selects the ID symbol and value for the window or dialog.
The Description entry field specifies a
short description of the window or dialog. Code Page selects the code
page that the window or dialog template should use.
Types:
- Parent Window provides the primary
source of information in a program
- Child Window provides secondary
information in conjunction with the main Parent Window of
the program
- Dialog provides information to the
user and allows the user to enter specific data to the
program
- Notebook page provides information
to the user and allows the user to enter specific data to
a program associated to a specific notebook contained
within a window or dialog
- Notetab page provides information
to the user and allows the user to enter specific data to
a program associated to a specific notebook contained
within a Workplace Settings page
Relative:
- Window sets the relative position
of the dialog box display position to that of its parent
window
- Screen sets the relative position
of the dialog box display position to that of the Desktop
- Mouse sets the relative position of
the dialog box display position to that of the mouse
Notebook page Linkage:
- Parent selects the dialog
box or window containing the notebook you want
- Notebook selects one of
the notebooks found within the dialog or window you have
selected
Auto help:
- Table ID specifies the ID
of the help sub-table you wish to use
- Panel ID specifies the ID
of the panel definitions you wish to use
Style Options:
- Title Bar includes a
title bar in the dialog or window
- System Menu includes a system menu
in the upper-left hand corner of a window or dialog
- Horz. Scroll Bar includes
a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the window or
dialog
- Vert. Scroll Bar includes
a vertical scroll bar at the right of the window or
dialog
- Visible shows the window or dialog
as soon as it is created
- Size Border allows the user to
resize the window or dialog
- Border includes a simple
border as the frame of the window or dialog
- Dialog frame includes a
dialog box frame as the frame of the window or dialog
- System Modal designates the window
or dialog box as a system modal. CAUTION: System
modals should generally not be used by windows since the
user will only be able to interact with that window and
will not be able to select others that he or she has
opened.
- Menu includes an
action-bar menu in the window; not available for dialog
boxes.
- Min button includes a minimize icon
in the upper-right corner of the window. Note: The
Min Box check box will only be available when you select
Parent Window or Child Window.
- Max button includes a maximize icon
in the upper-right corner of the window. Note: The
Max Box check box will only be available when you select
Parent Window or Child Window.
- Hide button includes a hide window
icon in the upper-right corner of the window. Note: The
Hide button check box will only be available when you
select Parent Window or Child Window.
- Accelerators adds
accelerators to the application. Note: The
Accelerator check box will only be available when you
select Parent Window or Child Window.
- Standard creates a Standard window
including a Title Bar, System Menu, Size Border, Menu,
Min/Max Box, Accelerators. Note: The Standard
check box will only be available when you select Parent
Window or Child Window.
- Shell position indicates that
window size and position should be determined by the
system when it is created.
- Auto Icon prevents the
WM_PAINT message from being sent to the window when it is
iconized
- DBCS status includes a
status area at the bottom of the client window when the
application is running on a DBCS-enabled system.
There are Cancel and Enter buttons along
the bottom of the dialog box.
Distribution
Tab contains four tabs if you
are designing a window: Window, Menu,
Accelerator table and Help
tables; and two tabs if you are designing a
dialog: Dialog and Help tables.
Font
& Color Tab contains only a dialog tab
