Supply Commands to the Make Utility from a Response File

To provide commands to the Make utility with a response file, type

nmake @responsefile

In the responsefile field, enter the name of a file containing the same information as is normally entered on the command line.

Response file example
The following is a response file called update:

/s "program \
= flash" sort.exe search.exe

To use this response file, you type:

nmake @update

This runs the Make utility using:

The Make utility treats line breaks that occur between arguments as spaces. Macro definitions can span multiple lines if you end each line except the last with a backslash (\) as in the example. Macro definitions that contain spaces must be enclosed by quotation marks, just as if they were entered directly on the command line.
