I think WINE is doing the same

I personaly can understand that Sander does not want to invest his
sparetime in Odin anymore, but still your statement is wrong...

Normally I would remain in lurking mode on this
mailing list. It pains me to have to have two very
valuable and talented contributors to the OS/2
community, Michal and Adrian, having a go at each
other...particularly over ODIN. I don't know if
ODIN works, if Lindows works, or even if VPC works
in the complete and stable sense. Of the three I
suspect VPC, aside from performance issues, works
the most reliably. At least I have seen it
demonstrated working in a multiple OS environment
at the same SCOUG meeting when Michal spoke to us
about the Watcom compiler and SNAP (which I have
installed).

SCOUG has recently focused its attention on open
source with an interest in more actively
participating. In fact on December 21 I will
present a topic, "Open Source:Issues and Answers",
using an open source application, in this instance
HPCalc on Hobbes, as an example.

I think SCOUG members want to work under the
Netlabs umbrella as we have a deep appreciation for
the dedicated support that has emanated from there.
Chances are that we will examine the EPM project to
see what all it entails. If it turns out that the
actual EPM source is missing, we may decide to
accept the task of producing it. That might entail
somehow melding jEdit, which is open source, into
the EPM project.

In the meantime I shall return to lurking mode.<g>

The last version of VPC is very reliable and pretty fast compared to the
previous one. I
use it daily and it's a very well done job.

Anyhow, I would prefer an Odin solution, so I didn't need to have a M$
License... and I
wouldn't need to install the OS.

It's a pity that companies that previously were dedicated exclusively to OS/2
are now
developing for windows. I don't blame them. It's the market that says so. If
they don't do
it, they'll be out of market...

We have to reinvent the wheel if we want to save our prefered OS. There must be
something we can do.

How many OS/2 users are around the world? Any Ideas?

Greetings/2

IBM would have published nothing if thez didn't had to, because ALSA
is open source and changes had to be published.
Somehow IBM found a way to make the driver into two leagal parts.

On the other hand, On Netlabs is the source for a Linux sound driver
wrapper. This together with the changed alsa could be the new uniaudio
driver.

More exactlz The SB Live driver was planned as Uniaudio driver, but
noone ever enhanced the uni driver alsa to work with such a wrapper
... that's what jsut had happened.

May be someone could use this ...

I tried it and even though all of the programs worked and did not hang
the picture didn't came up right. Probably you didn't mean the
programs to be supported by you but I still want to tell you how my
tests came up.

My machine:
Thinkpad R32 with ATI Randeon 7500 Mobility 8 or 16 Mb of RAM
SDD 7.1

Thanks for your effort

Possible fixed.
I use pure PM bitmap bitblit but even with it there may be some problems.

The problem is that bitmap used for BitBlit may has 24 or 32 bits.
On some systems DevQueryCaps return CAPS_COLOR_BITCOUNT as
24 or 32 but bitmap for bitblit should be 32 or 24 - I don't remember
now where I finded.

The number of samples now is 20

I tried it on my system at home with a Matrox G400 16Mb and the same
drivers and it worked fine. No hangs but harder to kill these process
are (that sounded like Yoda).
Anyway, are this examples using the new mesa?, did you change stuff
from your last tries?

Thanks for your work

It is nothing exept numbers crunching in SW rasterizer.
